New player, need song pathway

Post by CharChar »

Hey Guys, I am new to accordion (maybe a little over a month in) I am still refining and practicing: Drunken Sailor, Ievan Polka, and Chicken Dance. I was wondering if you guys knew some more song from Ronen that are a bit simpler for me to keep practicing (ideally polka not waltz) as in the coursework it really opens up, and the songs I love the sound of, seem to be a little too complex for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Welcome to the accordion - hope you'll have as much fun as I do.

I'd suggest playing Hej Sokoly - here: https://accordionlove.com/course/hej-sokoly/
or maybe Bergvagabunden Polka - here: https://accordionlove.com/course/bergvagabunden-polka/

Summertime is quite straightforward as well: https://accordionlove.com/course/george ... ummertime/

Christmas songs are usually quite simple as well, although you might want to wait just a little longer for that, perhaps another month and a half?

Hope that helps!

Bella Ciao is good too, and has an easy chord progression (esp if you don't do the optional transposition, which is really not necessary at all).

Been working on Bergvagabunden Polka and Bella Ciao both are super fun, I still am struggling with hand separation a bit, especially on anything that is not alternate bass polka in style, I guess will just come in time if I keep at it. Thank you again for the recommendations.
