Can’t find a back pad to match up?

Post by RagtimeRuss »

Hello all,

I got my accordion from an older gentleman months back, but unfortunately the previous owner had no back pad. He also was stumped on where to find one. I have a Sano Zon Rio. I’ve searched online everywhere and can’t seem to find one that would fit. The problem is that the buttons don’t line up. I’ve even searched for ones that I could place my own button clasps in, however I can’t find the right size clasps. If anyone has tips on where to look, I’d love some pointers!

Hi. If you're handy with a sewing machine or know someone who is, I think you could make your own pad in a shape that worked with the accordion. You can buy just the snaps (Bossetto Accordions sells them on ebay) and then install them in the right positions to line up with the backs that are already there. Although I don't know what kind of tool you need to do that--probably the ones they sell at fabric stores for jeans snaps would work. The snaps come with both parts, so you could replace the snap backs that are on the accordion with the new ones, but put them in the same holes, so you won't have to drill new ones.

Thanks so much for the recommendation! I think it’s definitely coming down to this option at this point. I’ll take a look at Bossetto to see about those snaps, I appreciate the pointers!
