Replacing the bellows gasket

Post by olivigus »

I put a new foam gasket on the bellows of one of my older accordions and it's made a big difference! Much easier to push and pull the bellows now that the gasket is sealing nice and tight. The old one was actually almost worn away at one spot. It used to feel like the bellows was heavy and took a lot of effort to move. Just posting in case anyone else is experiencing that problem. It's an easy fix. I got the new self-sticking gasket foam from Bossetto Accordions on ebay. It comes in a roll that is more than enough to do a full-sized accordion. Be sure to measure the old one so you get the same width and thickness. The Accordion Revival website has instructions, but it's pretty self-explanatory once you have the accordion open.
